I've been on the production side for years, so let me be straight about this comparison: a good videographer will make you a good video. That's not the question. The question is what happens to it afterward.
What hiring a videographer gets you
You hire a shooter or a small production company. They plan, shoot, and edit. You get files — usually one finished piece, sometimes a couple of cuts. Priced per project or per day.
Done well, this is genuinely valuable, and it's often the cheapest way to get one specific thing made.
Where it usually stalls
The handoff. The video is finished, the invoice is paid, and now it's your job to get it on the landing page, uploaded natively to YouTube, cut into verticals for the feeds, running in ads, and tracked. Most owners don't have time for that, and it isn't the videographer's job. So a good video sits in a folder.
The other pattern: one 16:9 file that doesn't fit anywhere modern. Feeds are vertical, ads want thirty seconds, YouTube wants its own treatment. One master file serves none of them without an editor and a plan.
What we do differently
Same shoot day, different scope. One half-day produces a hero video, a cutdown, and a set of vertical cuts — every format, captioned. Then we place them, upload them natively, run the campaigns, and wire them to call and form tracking, so the month after the shoot you can see what the footage actually booked.
And the footage bank keeps producing. New cuts come out of material already shot, so month six doesn't need another shoot day. Review the packages.
Where hiring a videographer directly wins
Real cases — take them:
- You need one specific video. A trade-show loop, a training piece, a one-off announcement. Hire a shooter. We'd be selling you a system you don't need.
- You have a marketing person already. If someone in-house does the placement, cutting, and campaign work, you're paying us for coordination you already have.
- Budget is the binding constraint. A single project from a local videographer costs less than any of our packages. If that's the ceiling, it's the right ceiling.
- It's not home services. We only work with residential trades — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, restoration. Anyone outside that is better served elsewhere.
- You want weddings, events, or real estate. We don't do any of it.
Where we're the better call
- You've hired a videographer before and the footage went nowhere.
- You want the video working across every channel without managing it.
- You want the number it produced, not just the file.
- You need technician intros for a whole team, batch-shot in one session — see technician intro videos.
FAQ
Can we hire you for just a shoot?
Our packages include deployment and tracking because that's where the results come from. If you only want files, a local videographer serves you better and cheaper, and we'll say so on the call.
Is your production quality different?
The production standard is the same work a good shop does. What's different is what happens to the footage after the edit.
What if we already have footage?
Bring it. Existing footage can often be cut into new assets — worth a conversation before you book another shoot.
